Operational Rules
Trash standards, quiet hours, fire safety, emergency contacts
Operational Rules — Trash, Noise & SafetyIVGID + Washoe County
#1Cart Size Must Match Occupancy

Waste cart size must be sufficient to store waste for the maximum number of occupants each week. Undersized carts are a violation.

#2Wildlife-Resistant Carts Required

STRs in IVGID's service territory and other bear-prone areas must utilize wildlife-resistant carts and/or bear boxes — EXCEPT in multi-unit developments where HOAs require and enforce regular trash disposal.

#3Street-Side Timing Only

Waste carts shall only be placed street-side during the timeframes stipulated by the local authority or waste service provider. Do not leave carts out overnight.

TRPA Land-Use Regulations & Compliance

Tahoe Regional Planning Agency zoning governs land-use at the parcel level. TRPA zone affects STR eligibility independently of HOA and county rules.

Tourist Area (TA)

Tourist Area zoning is the most STR-friendly TRPA designation. TRPA land-use does not restrict STR activity in Tourist zones. However, HOA CC&Rs and Washoe County permit requirements still apply independently.

STR Impact: FAVORABLE — TRPA layer does not restrict STR. HOA + County layers still govern.
